How we calculated this. Category is picked by height first (Bauer convention), then validated by weight — youth / junior / intermediate / senior. Length uses the chin-to-nose rule (height × 0.83) with ±0.5–1 inch for position and skill, then clamped to the category's retail range so the recommendation is always a stick that's actually sold. Flex uses the modern 2026 formula of weight × 0.45 (the old weight ÷ 2 rule was for 1990s slapshot-era sticks and overshoots for most players today), rounded to the nearest standard flex within the player's category, with ±5 flex for skill level and defense position.
