Sizing notes

  • Industry formula: shoe size − 1.5. Half sizes preserved.

  • Width: D (standard) — D-width fits ~65-70% of adults. Standard off-the-shelf.

Fit check — how the skate should feel

Good fit: Toes brush the front of the boot when standing straight. When you bend the knee to 90°, toes pull back ¼ inch from the front.
Too big: Heel lifts when you skate. Toes don’t touch the front when standing. Foot slides side to side.
Too small: Toes curl under the front even when knees are bent. Numbness after 5 minutes of skating. Blisters on the big toe.
Width hint: Pressure on the sides of the forefoot after 10 minutes means you need wider (EE) — Bauer Nexus and CCM Tacks run widest.

How we calculated this. Skate size formula verified across Bauer, CCM, and Pure Hockey sizing charts: women’s and kid’s shoe size minus 1, men’s minus 1.5. Half sizes preserved. Category boundaries (Youth / Junior / Intermediate / Senior) match Bauer and CCM SKU naming. Width recommendation uses the standard D (medium, ~65-70% of adults), EE (wide — Bauer Nexus / CCM Tacks run widest), and D- narrow for smaller women’s sizes.
